Your private tour begins with your driver picking you up from your hotel in Casablanca. We’ll then explore the main cultural sights before we drive to Fes where we’ll stay overnight in a riad / hotel.
We’ll start the day exploring the oldest city in Morocco, snaking through its alleys and narrow streets. We’ll begin sightseeing at the Royal Palace gate, followed by the Jewish headquarter where the first Mellah ever was built in Morocco, during the 16th century. We’ll ensure that you visit all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region.
We’ll also visit the Tanneries, the Attarine museum and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch you’ll visit many different cooperatives and then, experience a wonderful panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes before ending the night at your Riad.
After breakfast at your hotel in Fes we’ll leave for Merzouga through the Mid-Atlas region passing thorugh Ifrane, the “Switzerland” of Morocco. Up next we’ll drive a bit further to explore the cedar forests of Azrou, where you can stop to feed the Berber apes. We’ll then continue to Midelt where we’ll have lunch and then follow the Ziz River through to the Ziz Gorge (valley). Our drive proceeds across the Ziz Valley, Erfoud, and Rissani where we’ll stop to explore the souk (local market). Our day comes to a close as we arrive in Merzouga, spending the night at a local hotel hotel (including a complimentary dinner and breakfast).
After breakfast, we’ll head out to the desert; trade in our 4x4 for camels. We’ll spend the day exploring desert region and The Erg Chebbi Dunes, making a circuit of the desert dunes where you’ll experience firsthand the captivating contrast of the Moroccan nomadic (Berber) way of life. From there we’ll pay a visit to the “black village” of Khamlia, where we’ll enjoy a show by the renowned Gnawan musicians, followed by a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani. Our afternoon will be spent riding camels and enjoying the sunset behind the dunes before heading back to our camp. There, we’ll be treated to a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious local mint tea, and delight in traditional Berber music underneath the star and moonlit sky of the wondrous Sahara Desert.
We’ll fetch an early start to catch the sunrise in the Merzouga desert, and then return on camelback to the village. From there, we’ll leave to to Tinghir, to reach the Todra Gorge, which is the highest, narrowest gorge in Morocco. Here we may stop to hike within the valley, and after lunch in the gorge we will continue on to the Dades Gorge, where we’ll enjoy sand castles and also geological features called “monkey toes/feet”. We’ll spend the night in the Dades Gorge, at a local hotel, which will include a complimentary dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast we’ll drive towards Ouarzazatte passing through the route of a thousand Kasbahs (fortresses). We’ll stop at Kalaat Mgouna (which is the center of The Valley of Roses) for a stretch and lunch at a local restaurant. Then, we’ll continue our private tour stopping first at the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou before continuing through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass to Marrakesh where we’ll spend the night at a local riad / hotel.
